Fun & Affordable Family Things to Do Around Norwich
Here at High Altitude, we love shouting about how a visit to our trampoline park is a fun and affordable activity for the whole family, but what if you want to cram some more family adventure into your day before or after your visit to our park?
Well, luckily, for you, we know of a few other things to do around Norwich that provide endless fun and value for money.
So if you’re all in for some Norwich sightseeing and a taste of local adventure, keep on reading for some of our favourite suggestions of things to do in Norwich for families.
Visit Norwich Castle
When you can learn something new while enjoying yourself, we consider that a day well spent, and the best place for just that, in Norwich, is with a visit to Norwich Castle.
The 900-year-old castle always has so much going on, alongside regular displays, there is always a vast range of exhibitions to see, activities for families and special events.
As of writing this blog post, some areas of the castle are closed due to a massive renovation project, though most of the castle is still open, including areas such as:
- Special Exhibitions Gallery
- Boudica & Romans Gallery
- Wider World Galleries
- Art Galleries
- The Egyptian collections (temporary display in the Arts of Living Gallery)
- Natural Histories Gallery
Also, the pop-up shop and café are running a reduced offer due to the castle’s redevelopment. That’s educational family fun and a few pounds saved!
Shopping at Chantry Place
We all deserve a little treat every now and again, so perhaps a visit to Norwich’s number one shopping mall is on the cards.
With a wide range of different shops, each member of the family can enjoy a treat for themselves. For the kids, Langleys has all the toys and games you could dream of; if sports are your thing, Sports Direct and JD Sports are the places to visit; for the fashionistas, H&M, Claire’s and Hollister are a must! We can’t forget about the parents – don’t worry, Mum and Dad, there are plenty of stores for you as well.
After a session of shopping, take the weight off your feet and arms (heavy shopping bags) with a stop at the food court. Whether you’re in the mood for fast food, café coffee or something sweet, Chantry Place has something to suit all tastes.
Stroll Through Eaton Park
For things to see and do in Norwich, Eaton Park has to be on your visit list. As one of Norfolk’s historical parks, it has welcomed families and friends for years and provides a lovely day out in the fresh air.
What can you do at Eaton Park?
- With a whopping 80 acres of land, pack up a family picnic and find the perfect spot to tuck in; there are plenty of shaded areas and sunny spots
- Are you a fan of model boats? Race yours here at Eaton Park’s Boat Pond
- For some competitive fun, take part in some crazy golf
- The famous miniature railway runs on most Sunday afternoons
- As well as the Boat Pond, take a walk down to the beautiful Lily Pond, which is inhabited by goldfish and ducks
There’s so much more to see and do at Eaton Park, but it’s also a lovely location for a calm walk in the fresh air.
Entry to Eaton Park is free, you just have to pay for parking – see here for rates.
A Trip to the Cinema
If you want things to do in the Norwich city centre, there are a few places to go where you can catch the latest blockbuster hits with the family.
Not much can beat a trip to the cinema, especially after an exhausting visit to High Altitude Trampoline Park. These cinemas are just a short drive away from us:
- Odeon Norwich, Norwich Riverside Entertainment Centre
- Cinema City, St Andrews Street
- Vue Cinema, Castle Quarter Shopping Centre
With so many great movies out right now and more being released to cinemas soon, now is the perfect time to sit back, pig out on some popcorn and marvel at the big screen.
Strikeout at Ten Pin Bowling
Game on! It’s time for the whole family to get active in some competitive fun at Hollywood Bowl in Norwich.
If you’re a skilled bowler or a complete novice, it doesn’t matter – here, everyone can bowl at their own skill level and confidence. Kids can use the help of the provided bowling ramps for a better chance at getting that sweet SSSTRIKE! Keep score or play for fun, whatever way you choose to play is cool with us.
If you choose to visit Hollywood Bowl, you can take a quick break from bowling and visit the arcade section which includes so many different games and opportunities to win prizes.
Parents can also have some fun with a quick game of pool, and keep everyone refreshed and their tummies full with plenty of food and drink options to choose from.
